Like I promised the picture of the dress I did during my summer holiday. Actually I wanted to take some pics outside but it was raining all the time so this is only an indoor shot.
Can't exactly say how much time it took me to finish it. It consists of a corset, chemise, underskirt, upperskirt and the waistcoat. I dyed the brown fabric on my own, it is the same fabric like the chemise. The hem and the waistcoat are made of black velvet. The corset is boned with hemp cord this way it is not that stiff and still allows to move in quite pleasant.
I drafted the patterns on my own based on the things I learned during my first year in fashion school.
awsome! i'm so jealous of you, that can do a fashion school... i have to do all by myself and mostly the results aren't as good as i hoped.
i love this dress, it's simple in the look, but very good made.
i've got just one question...which kind of fabric did you use for the skirt and the chemise? i always wanted to do a dress like this, but i want a fabric that fits good
Well, for practice purposes I always bought fabric at the local Ikea. It was pretty inexpensive and easy to work with. I just looked it up on their website and the fabric I always bought was called "ditte". And this is exactly the fabric you see in the picture. I don't know if this information is of help for you. And I can try to give you some more information in a note, if you want to.
thanks, but I already finished fashion school two years ago I already thought that an ikea might be too far away, that's why I didn't mention it in my first reply... But I'm sure you will find a really good fabric. Just look for plain woven fabrics to start with. We used those to practice with in fashion school because they don't slip away too easily. May I ask how long you are sewing now?
2 months as i said i'm still practising you can see my pathetic first work in my deviantart page i sewed it without pattern, from a picture i found online of a medieval dress.
in these days i am working to other stuff, a cape, a hood, a blouse and a jacket in alcantara...i will post the pictures soon
i find sewing really amazing, i like it very much.
i hope to get better, but it's hard with no one to teach you.
Regards from a Flagmaker!

The fabric for the skirt and chemise is a really simple cotton fabric. Nothing special
thanks a lot, i will try to find the perfect fabric and do the dress
thanks for all your advices...good luck for your fashion school
